We arrived
March 18 to Singapore, who have one of the busiest ports in the world. Population
is about 5 million, and Singapore once was a British colony.
Today Singapore is one of the largest finance
centers in the world and most major banks have their head quarter here. And the
city is still expanding.
Many rich
Chinese and Indians have moved here, and if you like to become a citizen you
have to invest 3 million Singapore dollars. One of the reasons why people like
to live here, is that it is considered as very safe. No wonder if you see the
list of what you can`t do, and what will happen to you if you ignore…
Kids had a
muffin outside in the rain, and it became quite messy. I never thought I find
myself cleaning the street with a napkin, but I can ashore you I did!
Just
outside our first stop (a mall) we found these nice cars parked..
Our plan
for the day was to go to the amazing Sentosa, and what can be more fun than to
take the cable car above the city to get there
From the
air we saw the Merlion statue, a landmark In Singapore.
Sentosa is
an island, and we felt that we could easily have spent a week or so there just
enjoying all the entertainment. This day we chose to go to Universal studios,
and especially the boys loved a boat trip through Madagascar “I like to move it
move it”.
it..”
Singapore
has a tropical rainforest climate, and this day heavy rain kept coming and
stopping, but it was a very warm day so it really didn`t matter. The taxi
driver said it was not raining for months, so he was at least happy for the
trees and grass.
We took the
cable car back and headed towards a short stop at the Raffles Hotel.
Singapore
was founded by Sir Stamford Raffle in 1819, but not only did he found the city,
he is also the father of the drink Singapore Sling. I never had it before, and thought
it would be fun to have it at its birthplace. Many celebrities have stayed here
during the years, from Charlie Chaplin to Michael Jackson just to mention a
few. It`s really a hotel with style, and if you have the chance, do visit. We
went and asked for the drink, and was guided to the Long Bar. Here they serve
the drink, and have peanuts that you crack yourself and drop on the floor. What
a contrast to the rest of Singapore.
The drink
was great, and if it always taste like this it`s easy to understand how it
became world famous.
We really
had an amazing day, and I think Singapore is one of the best places we have
visited. As long as you follow their laws the city is surely more than fine.
Next stop
Port Kelang March 19.
