Yesterday
we came to Honolulu. Our original plan was to explore this island that is so
famous, but sometimes life takes a different turn than you plan. Helene had a
hard painful night, and we found
It the
safest to let the medical crew on the ship have a look at her. That was good!
They suspected appendicitis, so she and I were sent off the ship with an
ambulance.
We made the
decision that the rest would go ashore and that we might meet the same night at
the ship, or somewhere else later. It was really hard for all of us.
We were all worried for Helene, and it was truly hard to say goodbye
without knowing where and when to meet again.
19.00 the
ship left Honolulu, and at the same time Helene came out from the surgery
without her appendix.
We wish
this never had happened, but since it did, we feel extremely happy and thankful
that it happened here, not at sea, and not at some of the other destinations we
are visiting.
It is so
many we like to thank. First of all the medical staff at the ship. They came to
her cabin, gave her shots, acted on their suspicion and organized everything
for us. The hospital, so professional,
modern,
efficient and very very friendly. No stress, only smiles, good conversations
and still they got the job done with almost no waiting. Amazing.
P&O
cruise followed us up with sending a person to assist us, and phone calls
offering any practical help we might needed, and when I got to the point where
I realized I should call the travel insurance they had
already
done also that. I`m truly sorry I can`t remember all the names, but to put it
short; thank you all!!!
Helene is
recovering fine, and we could leave the hospital today, but the doctor will not
let her fly until February 7.
So here we
are “stuck in Hawaii”, which is both good and sad at the same time. Hopefully
we will catch up with the rest, maybe in Tonga February 8, or in New Zealand
February 11.
Right now
the ship are at sea, heading for Pa(N)go Pa(N)go in the South Pacific. From
what we hear they are all good, and that they miss us, like we miss them. Life
is just better when we are together!
This was my
“bed” last night, but tonight this is my bed;
We haven`t
seen much of the island yet, but we went across the street for dinner tonight
at the Red Lobster.
Having
chicken….
Our plan
for tomorrow is to go on a bus tour to see more of Hawaii. We will take it easy
the next few days but we totally
Agree about
one thing; even from the very little we have seen of Hawaii we think this is
one of the best places we have ever been.
We tried
during dinner to define what it is, and here is what we came up with for now;
Everybody
you meet are very friendly, both male and female are smiling and talking with
you.
Nobody asks
you what you think about Hawaii, they all simply say; “welcome here, were are
you from? Hope you will have a great time”.
So here is
the conclusion for now; we wish we could have continued with the ship, but at
the same time do we feel that we are at the best place we ever been!
