February 20
we came to Airlie Beach, or Whitsunday Islands. To leave the ship and go ashore
with the tender boats took approximately 45 minutes, and this time we actually
regret that we didn`t sign up for one of the organized tours. Every port we go
to, it`s an option to go on a tour, or to explore by yourself. We were not
aware of the short time we would have here but we anyhow had a quiet, hot and
relaxing day.
Airlie
Beach seems to be a typical backpacker place. Cheap accommodations and
possibilities to go to Great Barrier Reef among other places. Unfortunately we
did not have enough time, so we went to the beach.
The ocean
is full of jelly fish, so it`s better to have a philosophical moment by the
ocean. The rest of the kids had a competition about who could through a coconut
the longest…
And
collecting sea shells
I have to
admit that even though I really definitely like Australia, it is also a bit
scary to me with all this creatures that I`m not used to. Jelly fish and sharks
in the ocean, spiders, snakes and who knows what everywhere, so when I felt a
sudden burn on my back….you can imagine all the thoughts running through my
head. It was probably just one of these beautiful parrots shitting on me and
really not a big deal.
Since the
satellite on the ship hadn`t been working for days (which means that instead of
slow an expensive internet, we had no internet) we were very happy to find a
café with internet
After
drinks and updates it was time to go back to the ship, and six days at sea
before we will reach Manila.
